Welcome to District 71 🏙️

Bringing the Ocean to Tallahassee

Ocean Fitts is running to represent Florida House District 71. A state representative votes on Florida's laws and helps decide the state budget. That means deciding how much money goes to our schools, our roads, our police and fire departments, and our libraries. A lot of what makes life here affordable or not, like our property insurance and our property taxes, gets decided up in Tallahassee. When you're stuck dealing with a state agency and nobody's calling you back, your representative's office is supposed to help you. And Ocean takes that part of the job seriously.

Want to know where Ocean stands on insurance, property taxes, and the rest of what's decided in Tallahassee? See his agenda here.

District 71 is the west side of Manatee County. It runs from the Skyway down through Palmetto and Bradenton, out across the water to Anna Maria Island, and down to Cortez. It's a lot of water, a lot of history, and a lot of families who have been here for generations.

The green area is District 71, the part of Manatee County Ocean is running to represent. It covers Bradenton, South Bradenton, Palmetto, Memphis, Palma Sola, Cortez, and Anna Maria Island, including Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and Bradenton Beach. It reaches all the way up to the Skyway at the north tip and stops just above Longboat Key to the south. The dashed lines are the district borders.

These lines were drawn by the Legislature in 2022 and approved by the Florida Supreme Court, and they'll stay in place until the next redistricting after the 2030 census. Search if your address is inside District 71 at votemanatee.gov.
